Hi,
We recently moved a W2K network from one location to another. It consists of 2 W2KPro Workstations and a W2K Server (domain controller.) We even went so far as to use the same cables on the same machines, etc. However, access to the network is excruciatingly slow. We have:
- tried different cables
- tried different NICS (in server as well)
- tried different hubs
- run directly to serverIt seems to be something on the server. When accessing the server remotely via Terminal Services or PCA it works fine and then freezes for a couple of seconds every 10 seconds or so, like some process is taking up the CPU. I have run extensive virus, trojan, worm, etc. scans and nothing shows up. However, there are .bat files created and placed in the root at each boot up that contain the following:
cd \
cd winnt
cd addins
p -k winlog.exe
p -k winlog.exe
p -k winlog.exe
cd \
cd winnt
userinits.exe "winlog.exe secure.ocx"There is a directory under Winnt named addins that contains files named a.exe, b.exe, c.exe, etc. I've done some research but have turned up nothing. I've installed SP4 and still no good. Does anyone have ANY ideas? When working on the workstations they respond just fine until you try to open up something on the network or run a program that needs to read a file from the network.
THANKS!
- Brent

Hi, you may want to try this.
1, find out the ip for the server.
2, key in the ip in the dns field in the workstation.
3, if you have a gateway such as a router, key in that for the workstation as well.Hope this help.
David
