I just added a 40gig hdd to my system (20gig already there). After much trouble moving files back and forth, I decided to reformat & partition both. Using Win2kPro, I went through the install process. I ended up with an os on each drive (c,d,e,f). I was able to delete the winnt files on the d,e,f drives. This seemed to work fine, untill I loaded my remaining software. I have lots of troubles with speed, accessing programs, etc. I also have 4 os's showing on startup. Any ideas on what I did wrong on the install process? also, when formatting, I can only use "install new version" to get the drive to format, what am I doing wrong?

I ran into the same problem and here is what I did. It's kind of a long way round and there might be a better way, but this worked for me. First, have a look on the win2k installation cd for instructions on how to install from diskettes. It will tell you how to create four installation diskettes that run in DOS. Then reformat the drive as FAT32 where you want to install the OS. Don't worry, you can change it later to NTFS. Then boot from the first installation diskette and follow the instructions.Good luck!

to get rid of the startup message, you can go to system->advanced tab->start up. you can check off the box there.
