W2K hangs during boot

I just installed Windows 2000 but during the boot-logo the screen freezes, or shows a blue screen for a very short time and resets. I tried Safe- and VGA-Mode, replacing video card by another PCI card, replacing RAM, taking out all other cards, changing about every bios-option, bios-update (ACPI is supported), reinstalling several times. I think it might be the chipset but I don't get into Windows long enough to install anything. Any idea? Thanks!
