Hi. I had a helluva time installing W2K with my AMD 800/128MB PC133/ASUS A7V system. I could start the install from CD, but couldn't progress past a certain point. Then I updated the BIOS driver and was able to use the CD, and finished the install.
Months later, I now have 2 concerns. 1) I get the Promise Ultra ATA 100 device not found error every time I boot, and 2) Win2K and Win98 freeze during boot. I installed them in the right order, according to a site like this, from people who seem to know what they're doing.
Any suggestions? I shoulda got an Intel-based system...

I had same problem, installation hangs when detecting hardware. Try updating the motherboard drivers. I suspect the problem is the AGP VXD. There seems to be an issue with Riva TNT2 based graphics cards, to resolve get the latest detonator drivers.
