W2k does not see/recognize DSL modem

I recently changed my os from Win ME to Win2000. However.... Win2000 cannot see my DSL modem (internal card; Intel Pro DSl 2100). The DSL modem does not show up in Device Manager, or any other utility through which I might be able to view it. But I know it's there! It worked fine with ME. I realize I need a new driver for it, but that will do me no good until W2k can see the modem. I tried shutting down, physically removing the modem card, booting back up and shutting down, and then installing the modem once again. No new hardware was detected. Anybody have any idea what's going on? The computer tech at work suggested I remove the DSL modem again, and try inserting it in a different pci slot. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like Win2k might have installed it at boot up using generic drivers, it may not have installed it as the right device though, check to see if u have any extra ethernet adapters/modems/miscellaneous/unknown devices
