w2k cable modem setup

Hi
i have winxp connected to linksys router and i install win2000 on another pc, i cant connect to internet, i have internet connection on winxp,
on router dhcp enable for cable modem. i try the settings through network places the option i use connect via LAN i gave router ip,and ip add 192.168 didt work

any suggetions will be great.

Linksys router all wired pc's winxp, mac, and win2000. The pc with win2000 had other OS before and i had internet, router has dhcp enable, router ip 192.168.1.1
checked all the physical connection everything fine ping localhost.

I should have been more specific. I meant how are the items physically connected to each other? Are the computers connected to the router with cables? Wireless? Can you ping the XP machine from the 2K Machine? More information would be good.

All pc's are wired with router, i can ping localhost and ip addres 192.168.x.x but cannot ping default gateway 192.168.1.1 on win2000 pc
other pc with winxp works fine and i cannot ping from xp to win2000 pc, i try with static ip add and dhcp did't work.

Did you enable DHCP on the 2K machine? Is the Local Area Connection showing in My Network Places? If not, you need to install the drivers for the NIC.

DHCP is not enabled, when i gave ipconfig/renew command i could not renew i got message
Error: no adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP, i can see local area connection in network places

You need to enable DHCP on the 2K machine.

I started the services for DHCP but still same message

Its been long time i used win2000 how to enable DHCP?

Same way as in XP. Right-click Network Places, Properties, Right-Click on the LAN, TCP/IP Properties, Set to DHCP.
