Hi,
I had a pioneer 105 DVDRom and recently added another Pioneer 106 DVD-RW on my system. I flashed both the Drives making them region free. When I added the DVD-RW, the device manager properties showed Reg-2 and 4 possible changes. After that I had to format my HDD and reinstall W2K. But now both the Drives are showing Reg-1 and when trying to manually change (as a admin) to Reg-2, it says you can't and only Admin can do it.

Any ideas please.

Thanks in advance
SRavi

sounds like you flashed more than the "region free" the dvd may need to be reflashed

Thanks,
I found the reason/solution for the problem. I was searching on the net and found a link to microsoft's site, which says the decoder gives multiple region change option for RPC-2(Region Locked) Drives but only one change option for RPC-1 (Region Free). Which explains the first problem. And Tried changing the region in device manager properties, luckily it worked this time.

Thanks & Regards,
SRavi.

may not be required but why not try anydvd or dvd region free. these are on-the-fly dvd decrypters which are region free.

flashing a drive to regiopn free is only part of the prob with dvds since both the os and dvd software used usually have regions built in as well.

hope this helps.
