Problem: I am having an issue with remote desktop. I am able to connect to my remote server just fine. The problem is that once connected I need to then go to my Network Connections and Initialize a VPN. Once the VPN connects I get booted out of my Remote Desktop and cannot connect back in. Any Ideas?

You get disconnected because once VPN in, all communication is divert to your VPN default gateway not your machines' default gateway hence TS will fail.
