My buddy and I are trying to set up a VPN connection but keep running into error: 721 on my end and 628 on his. Our ports are set up with PPTP 1723, GRE 47, UPD 500 and still no luck. We are using the same OS (XP SP 2).

Have you checked your firewall settings? On both your clients and also any routers in between. Also make sure that you have granted the appropriate permissions to both the users trying to login and the devices that you are using to connect through. You could also Google your error msgs!!
