VPC32.exe error opening Norton

When I try to open up Norton anti-virus I get the error "VPC32.exe has generated an error and will be closed by windows.". This computer had the W32.HLL.Gaobot virus but that has been cleaned off and Windows has been updated with all critical updates. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Norton anti-virus about 3 times and I still get the VPC32.exe error. I get the error in safe mode as well as normal boot. I saw one article on Symantec's website that said you may get this error when opening Norton and not logged on as administrator, but I am logged on as the admin. Anybody else have this problem?

On this page, it lists VPC32.exe as one of the files that gets infected with Trojan.KKiller It outlines exactly how to remove it. I obviously can't say with any certainty that this is your problem, but I'd have a look. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.kkiller.html

No, unfortunately, that didn't work. I changed that value in the registry and it still wouldn't open after reboot. All other programs seem to open fine except for Norton. Anything else I can try?
