Well I'm doing more research on viruses from limewire and I thought I would post my story. I was just downloading music. Then my machine started to restart it self over and over there I thought was no solution. I was really concerned cause my last backup was 3 weeks old. So I had to fix it or recover my data there was no option. I had to restart the computer lots an lots of time until I discovered the correct safe mode (hitting F8 while it starts)for it to work. I even tried running last know configuration and the virus still would not let me access windows. After several attempts, no kidding like 20. I was able to get into windows with safe mode. Well I went into add or remove programs and removed limewire, and all windows 2000 updates this takes quite sometime cause it has to be done one by one. While still in safe mode right away I updated my virus definitions and spyware doctor and ran full scans on both to resolve and future issues. So far so good. I have 4 machines and this one still works for the non heavy stuff so I have kept it around the solution might be simpler or I won't run into this problem with my WinXp or Vista machines but I thought I would share it might help someone.

If you want viruses, Limewire is an excellent place to get them.

I don't understand why you removed all the Windows Updates though?

Look at the link below for another reason not to download illegal files using limewire.

I too am wondering why you removed the Windows Updates. Now you've opened your system up to any vulnerabilities that were patched by the updates.

Eching others above re' updates... I'd be inlined to go and get them all again; and re-install them. Set a restore point beforehand and agains at completion...? And make a full back up of a working system - just in case (Acronis etc.?)
