I had this worm virus and was removed sometime ago, every thing works fine now. However, when I installed the spyware and ran the program, a message came up and said that there is this worm virus within the System Volume Information folder. when I tried to run the anti-virus program (AVG), the system was shown clean with no virus infection. any thoughts are welcome. thanks

Are you using AVG7? For peace of mind you could also run an anti-virus program from the DOS mode. Basically, this means that Windows is not active and the virus, if it exists, cannot be activated. To check whether you are virus free go to http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlfprot.html They have an anti-virus program (trial) that you can download that fits on a CD. Download the program and transfer it onto a CD. Then download a W98 bootdisk program from www.bootdisk.com Transfer the program to a floppy disk. Then boot using the Win98 boot disk to an A: prompt. Type X: (where X is the CD Rom drive letter, you use the letter for your CD drive). You should see X: prompt. Type f-prot.exe c: and press Enter. When finished, take the floppy and CD out and reboot. After that you might need to run a repair to your OS. If you are not sure how to do it, please repost. Hope this helps.

Very tricky
1.Some dos based antivirus programs are finding as viruses some windows files.
2.You will need software to reach ntfs volume in dos mode./ntf to dos/
Best solution is to find other computer with clean win2k/xp OS and updated antivirus program.
Put your hdd as a second drive on that system. Boot up clean ntfs os and check with updated antivirus program your hdd.
