When I open the antivirus program, the virus closes it. The virus also closes Outlook Express and closes any search containing the word virus. I got around the search by typing vrus instead of virus, but when I tried to click on a free virus scan on the internet, the virus closed the explorer window. Also I tried using the norton systemworks cd to run a scan off of it, but the virus wouldn't let me. HELP!!!!!!!!

doesn't sound like a virus but malware. This is where keeping your spyware scanner [adaware/spybot/whatever] uptodate and doing regular scans comes in.
Spyware/malware is not a virus.
Might want to consider a system restore to a known good point. Or take it to a shop to get debugged.
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

2000 pro doesn't have system restore, i tried using the recovery cd, didn't work, wouldn't load a spyware program either, any ideas?

Download AdawareSE from a different computer and install. Run in safe mode if you can't run in normal mode. Then try updating Adaware and run again. Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 is excellent also. Find them both a PC World.

Ok,
Just reply some of my question. Can u run DOS . Ie, cmd, Taskmanager, msconfig, does mydocument popup?.
Can u install any application?
if u cannot, then u r surely infected with win32.vb.dj Virus. there is no Particular Removal solution.
Run on safemode and run msconfig
check startup and uncheck mscommonitems.exe and mstaskservice.exe
and reboot in normal mode and install Kaspersky, update and scan.
this will help u.
thanks
