I have a question, I recently bought a 256meg ram chip but every once in a while win2k tells me that I'am low on virtual memory. Does this mean that I have to many apps open and that Iam almost out of ram? Or is virtual ram something different?

Virtual memory is what you would know as your swap file. 256MB SDRAM is physical memory. Go to MY COMPUTER/PROPERTIES/ADVANCED/PERFORMANCE OPTIONS
It should tell you how big your PAGING FILE is. If it is any less than 256MB click on change set it to something larger, M$ recommend the 1.5 x RAM so 384MB might help.

This site has the most comprehensive information on tweaking your virtual memory (pagefile) I've yet seen. Check it out: http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/memory-win2k/index.shtml
