I have windows 2000 server small business edition it has 1.4GB of memory. In virtual memory settings what is recommended for:

thanks

Microsoft recommends you set the min and max settings the same so the pagefile doesn't fragment. This leads to better performance.

Given the 1.5x ram rule that would be 2.1gig for min and max. I would use performance monitor and monitor it for a month. Odds are you can reduce the size since with enough ram in the system paging is reduced.

Before you set your pagefile I would make it fairly small, defrag the drive, then set the min and max values.

I reckon any rule based on "so much times the RAM" is crazy. It makes no sense that the more RAM you have the more VM you need. More likely the other way round.
