I have a windows2000 Server. Every once and awhile I get a virtual memory error. “This machine is low on virtual memory, Please increase your virtual memory”. I increased the virtual memory to the recommended amount, which was 380. Restarted, and the next day got the same error. I then increased it to 500. But have found myself with the same problem. I have 256k of ram on my machine. Any Suggestions?

Add more physical RAM and set the min./max. for the virtual memory at 1 1/2 times the physical RAM amount.

Did you modify the security by any chance on the drive that you have 2k server installed on? I had the same problem with my 2k Pro machines. If you modify the security to the drive where you have windows installed, you can also get this message. What you need to do is check to see if the SYSTEM account has full control of the drive. If it doesn't, you can add the account by selecting the local machine and selecting SYSTEM. This will allow the computer to adjust virtual memory as needed so that when you reboot, it will not give you the same error message.
