I got a Soundblasterpci128 and a riva tnt2 ultra videocard installed. My problem is that the sound becomes distorted and jumpy whenever the displayadapter kicks in, ie. I cannot play mediaplayermusic in the background and work with windows 'cos the music gets distorted whenever a new window opens up. The visualizations in the media player run smoothly but the 3d together with the music makes the music all messed up, the same problem in games. I have all the brand new drivers and even tried the 'old' ones but nothing seems to work. I assumed it is a irq conflict but I only manage to change the soundcard for a little while, at next boot it is back on the same irq as the videocard. anyone got any hints on how to solve this? thanks in advance

If the video card is an AGP and the sound card is in the number 1 PCI slot, then this will happen. Move the sound card to a different slot.

The AGP slot will try to use the resources assigned to the no.1 PCI slot, for some reason, so don't use it at all.
