I've just finished setting up my new Compaq Armada laptop (pII 300, 128mb ram, 6.2gig, 13TFT, 24xcd, 4mb S3 Virge video). I've installed win2k on it and i'm currently downloading all the win2k updates (god there are a lot). I'm curious...does anyone know if the detonator drivers will work with this chipset ? I want to put the best drivers on the laptop for gaming...more specifically q2 and halflife. (yes it actually runs on a 300... all you people with your gigahertz comps can go suck it ;)). Any info would be appreciated! Check out my website if your so inclined :)

As you stated in your specs, your vid is an S3 Virge based chipset. Detonator drivers are for nVidia chipsets only. Laptop vid chipsets are designed for low power consumption, not performance. Do not expect to see stellar performance from this laptop.
Your best bet for drivers for your Virge are from the Compaq site
