Has anyone got the VIA VT83C572/VT82C586 PCI to USB Controller working!?No matter what I do it will not work in WIN2000.I've download the USB Filter and installed it and the Via 4in1 Driver, still doesn't work.Really need it to work.Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I finally got my win2000 conversion to recognize my usb controller.
1. Select START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT> DEVICE MANAGER> UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
2. Right click the UNSUPPORTED USB hot controller and select PROPERTIES from the pop up menu.
3. Click on the DRIVER tab
4. Click the UPDATE DRIVER button
5. Click NEXT
6. Select SEARCH FOR A SUITABLE DRIVER FOR MY DEVICE (make sure win2000 CD is in)
7. Click NEXT twice
8. Select the INSTALL ONE OF THE OTHER DRIVERS options
9. Click NEXT
10. Select VIA USB UNIVERSAL HOST CONTROLLER.
11. Click NEXT
12. Click FINISH
13. Restart the computer. After trying 4-in-1, usb filter, and various other tactics...following these instructions worked for me.

Gwen, you are that proverbial star!
Tried what you suggested and, apart from selecting 'Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller', my USB now works fine.
For others interested, I have a MicroStar MS5182 motherboard with ALi PCI to USB Open Host Controller and was having problems getting it to work in Windows 2000 (it all worked OK in Windows XP, '98 and various Linux os).
