Hello:
I have been running a dual HDD setup on a Win2K PRO system.During the transition with an RMA of one of the damaged harddrives, I decided to set the slave to master until my new HDD arrives. Moreover, I decided to use the NTFS. Now, the new 60GB HDD has arrived, partitioned, and loaded with Win98 SE using FAT32.
However, I need the programs, files, and utilities on the NTFS disk.

OPTION: Using Partition Magic 6.0
Even using PM 6.0 is no guarantee that ALL files will be recoverable, which is ok, as long as I can recover the most important stuff. Yet there is another consideration:
How and What measures are needed to ensure Windows does'nt read this second drive as a boot drive?
Finally, what are the best way to approach this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

SYSTEM CONFIG:
WINDOWS 2000 PRO/WIN98SE
RAM: 640MB
HARDDRIVES: MAXTOR 20GB/WESTERN DIGITAL 60GB

remove all of your data you need out first, then play around w/ it a little bit
go to command line and type in:
convert c: /FS:NTFS

-the best way to always learning is just to keep playing around so you know your ways going up; i advise you to save all data before doing any conversions

Windows 2000 can access FAT32 drives/partitions as well as NTFS drives/partitions. You should still have access to all your files/programs, just not the file security options you have with an NTFS drive/partition. If you are dual booting you want to access both drives/partitions from both Windows 2000 and Windows 98 then use FAT32 on both drives/partitions as Windows 98 can not read NTFS. In this situation you would have to convert the NTFS drive/partition to FAT32 with Partition Magic (there is no simple way of doing this in Windows 2000. The convert command, only converts FAT to NTFS it will not convert NTFS to FAT.) Like jrIStech said, backup your data first. If Windows 2000 is the master and the boot.ini file points to that Windows 2000 drive/partition, it will boot up Windows 2000(or at least display the option to.)
