USB Printer Problem

I have a communication problem between my Epson Stylus Color 740 printer and Windows 2000 Adv. Srv. The error message I receive is: '...error found when printing to USB0003.' Nothing comes ups in the even viewer. When I check out the printers folder and I chose to cancel the print job, the cancellation takes forever to execute.
I've tried to reinstall the USB drivers...HID drivers..and nothing. When I tried downloading the updated drivers from EPSON's website, I receive a message that Windows is unstable. I did a virus scan and my computer is healthy.

I had some issues with 2000 running nicely with my Epson 740.
In my case, I moved the printer to another USB port and everything seemed tobe ok. Note that I was using the standard drivers available under windows 2000 as opposed to updated ones from Epson site.
