Hi all,

I have a 160 gig external usb wd elements hard drive which until recetly worked great. But now, whenever I try to write to it, windows crashes completely needing a hard poweroff.

I think I caused this by messing around in the registry with a different usb drive, trying to make it support surprise removal, or when I opened usbstor.sys in notepad.

How can I fix this problem? I know it is not H/W as linux writes to it fine. Could I just try to delete all references to the drive in the regitsry and plug it in as new hardware?

Thanks

Wtkwhite

Undo the changes you made in the Registry.
