Hi,
I purchased a LG USB pen drive. Its capacity is 128MB.When I unplug and plug pen drive, some of the files are getting corrupted.I have two zip files 51MB each and copied into pen drive. When I plug again and try to open 2 zip files, the last one copied is corrupted. Win zip is giving message that it is incomplete zip file. I faced same problem with executable file. I have a exe of size 103MB. When I unplug and plug again USB pen drive, the executable is not working. This is happening with Samsung pen drive also. Please help me.Thanks in advance - Raghu

Hi Raghu,

I hope you are stopping the USB device before you are unplugging the pen drive, if not you are sure to corrupt your files and your drive. You may have to re format the pen drive (I had to format the drive once).

If you don't know how to stop the USB deice, right click on the USB icon on the bottom right side and select the 'unplug or eject hardware'. Then select the device and click on 'Stop'. Unplug the pen drive after you get the message like 'now you can unplug the device' or something like that. You have to do it everytime you want to unplug the USB device.

Hope it helps!

Hi Vadiraj,
Thnaks for your quick response. I took all the precautions you suggested. The following are my observations. It is not happening to all the files. It is happening only when size of all files crosses certain limit. I am not sure about threshold limit. It may be around 60MB.I observed this problem in 2 Samsung and 1 LG USB drive.I am not sure about whether the problem is with pen drive or my operating system. I tested in other machines also. same problem. Thanks - Raghu

I could be that your pen has a memory limitation of 64MB. Do it in two pieces.

Hi!
I have a problem with my Pendrive.
(It has a Samsungk9k2g08u0m chipset).
It does not have any write protection swtich, but when I'm trying to copy something on it, the explorer says that the disk is write-protected, and I sholud remove that first. But as I said it does not have any write protection switch.

/It used to work before, it's only started it like a week ago.
thank you
Erwin Ernesto

Hi,
I observed same problem with other brands like LG,SAMSUNG and PANASONIC.I observed this problem in 64MB and 128MB also. It is surprising that pen drives of top brands have this problem. How can they leave without testing it? I am also getting doubt that this problem with Windows or pen drive.I found this problem with 98/2K/XP.My observation is that if copy upto 50% of capacity data wont be corrupted. It is better to send a mail to LG or Samsung customer care.
