I bought a USB pen drive. This generates 100%cpu the moment it is inserted in the USB drive.

Any help appreciated to find out what could be wrong. I tried the same in other pc's, it is okay in other pc's.

Try connecting other USB devices. If the problem continues, that there is something wrong with the USB hardware on you computer, or something wrong with USB in Windows. If no,t see if the manufacturer of your pen drive has a separate Windows 2000 driver for your pen drive. If so, install that driver.
