I just installed a Sony Photo printer running on USB on my Win2K machine. Windows detected the new hardware, the printer indicated it was running in PC mode (as opposed to memory stick mode) All was well. I then put the memory stick into the printer, which was apparently the same as doing a hot disconnect from Windows. I got a warning that I had just ejected a device. Now Windows won't recognize the printer. Disconnecting and reconnecting it doesn't cause Windows to see it again. If I try the add/troubleshoot option from device manager, the system doesn't find any new hardware, it just hangs there searching. How can I 'force' Windows to recognize the new USB device? I'm running a Dell Dimension 800 with a factory install of Win2k pro. I have a Buslink external hard drive and a compaq ipaq both running on USB with no problems. The printer is a Sony DPP77 digital photo printer. Thanks for any ideas.

I have a similar problem with my Sony DSC P50 digital camera. I plug it into the USB port and dump my pictures to the HD ok but I can't disconnect it without causing a crash or erratic behavior. I have to reboot every time I dump my pics.
