Subject: USB 2.0 pci card

Subject: USB 2.0 pci card
OS: Win 2000
CPU/Ram: 1.8GHZ/756
Model/Manufacturer: Self
Comment:
I wish to attach a USB keyboard to a USB 2.0
pci card. However, I get the message "keyboard
not attached" when I try to boot. Works fine
if I don't use the pci usb port.

Does the pci bus need a driver and thus will
not work properly until an OS is loaded?

Can I make this work?

The BIOS will only recognize USB Keyboard and Mouse plugged into the on-board USB Ports providing the BIOS has a Legacy/DOS Mode setting enabled.

PCI Card and attached peripherals will only be functioning when Windows has loaded, hence why you have that 'no keyboard' message.

If you are short on USB ports to use on the MBoard you can connect the mouse to the card. Mice don't work in the startup or BIOS modes. If you never use DOS then you shouldn't have any trouble.
