I've got a US Robotics 56K ISA Winmodem. Windows 2000 detects it, but the modem behaves as a 28.8 modem. I need a new driver. 3COM doesn't have any. Any suggestions? Please e-mail a response because I don't know if I can find this forum again. Thanks.

Suggestion--buy a new modem that is on the HCL. www.microsoft.com/hcl Because the WinModem isn't designed to work with the NT platform. It is an inexpensive, low quality modem that is generic and designed to work with systems like Win98. US Robotics doesn't have the drivers and probably never will. Have you called their tech support? They will probably tell you to go buy the USR Sportster if you want a modem to work correctly in W2K.
I have this problem too. I have a sportster that I upgraded online to 56K but when I changed to Win2K it turn back into a 33.6K which made me mad. I e-mailed USR/3COM but has not gotten any reply. I search their website but no help was available regarding this problem. Anybody out there can help?

I have tried mailing them back but to no avail, however I did get the Sportster 33.6 to work under NT 4 after meesing around a bit but I cannot get it to work under Win 2000...
