Hi,

I want to upgrade my win 98 to win 2000. I boot the win 2000 cd and it goes into setup, but after that it says starting up win 2000 and then it basically do nothing. I try leaving it for 30 mins, nothing.. What is wrong?

Any suggestion?

THanks,
Marcus

Try starting the win2000 setup from within win98. boot your comp to win98, and then put the cd in. The installation will start in win 98, then it will reboot the system and the win2000 setup will automatically continue. That might help solve your problem.

Oh, and make sure to back up any data you want to keep, before you do that, just in case it corrupts your win98 installation, and you have to reformat. (dont we just love windows)

Hi,

I forgot to mention both my CD-ROM and Burner are not appearing in WIn98, I have tried re-installing the motherboard, drivers everything i can think of.

The only way I can access the cd is when i boot it thru bios. Any other approaches?

Greatly Appreciated,
Marcus

Use the 4 W2K set-up floppies?

Yo can either make them via the makeboot util on the CD (from within '98) or download a set at:

http://www.bootdisk.com.

Save the images to the HD; self-expand each to a floppy; use those floppies.

Quite why no '98 access to CDROM/burner in '98??? Did they ever work in '98; if so what has changed?

How are they currently installed/connected; similarly the hard-drive? Which is Master, which is Master with Slave?

How much RAM do you have installed - at least 64Meg (preferably 128Meg or more)?
