Hello,
I’m not sure which one to post this on (Win2K Message Board or WinXP) because it deals with two operating systems but here goes.
SPECS:
· P4 1.5Ghz ASUS P4B Motherboard
· Verto 32MB TNT M64 PCI Card
· 1024MB SDRAM
· Sound Blaster Audigy +MP3
· Maxtor 80.0GB 7200RPM Hard drive
· Pioneer Slot 16x DVD-ROM
· Digital Research 16´10´40 CD-RW
· Current Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional
· Wanting to install: Windows XP ProfessionalAs the specs say I have Windows 2000 Pro installed on my computer. I want to install WinXP Professional like a standard upgrade. I run through setup and with 37 minutes left to install, the computer comes up with an error message and reboots. It cycles through this until I shut it down manually.
* The error message is displayed for less than one second so I don’t know what it says.
* Every time it reboots it says "Checking Hard drive for consistency" to which I ran ScanDisk and it fixed something and still runs through it
* The error occurs when 37 minutes are left in the installation on the "Installing Devices" section.Does anyone know what could be happening and how I could resolve this?
Thanks!
Jiggy

Have you installed the Asus upgrade for the P4B (Avance AC'97 Audio Drivers and Applications Ver:A2.60 for Windows XP) ? Go to http://cgi.asus.com.tw/cgi-bin/dl.asp?filename=misc/audio/alc201/alc201_wxp.zip
Before upgrading your system to XP, I would also suggest running the XP Readiness test at http://www.pcpitstop.com/xpready/default.asp

Try disconnecting the Digital Research 16´10´40 CD-RW and removing any unnecessary (SB, TNT, etc) cards from the motherboard during the install of XP. If XP installs OK then you can try installing each of the cards etc. one at a time.
You may have an IRQ conflict with one or more of the devices.
Cheers,

I can take out everything but I obviously have to leave the TNT card in there so I can "see" the install unless its supposed to adhere to some kind of onboard video (which I don't think ASUS P4B's have) right?
Thanks,
Jiggy
