Upgrade from ME to 2000

CPU/Ram: 1.3 ghz 256mbs
Model/Manufacturer: HP 7960
Comment:

I've try upgrade my ME computer to win 2000. During
the installation process I've hit a loop and I'm not able to get out of it. I get the following error
"the computer name you entered is not properly formated.......may not contain spaces or (.) my computer is named "2032 UNION ST." I'm able to change the name and password, but the process repeats it self and i'm stock, I've try shuting down but I always go back to the same steps.


please help me

trv is right (as usual). If you've formatted the drive and successfully installed 2000, the error you're receiving is pretty clear. You have spaces and symbols in your computer name. Rename the computer to an acceptable ID.

Both the above are correct. If you wanna install Win2K, you should 1st backup all your important files & documents, then format the HDD (FAT32 or NTFS, depending on partition size & personal preference), THEN do a clean install of Win2K.

And when naming the computer, try using the following:

2032_UNION_ST

(no spaces or period)
