Hello everyone.

I was wondering if these specs will work on UPGRADING my windows 98se to Windows 2000 PRO

192 MB RAM
14 GB HD
AMD Athlon 700MHZ Processor

Yes, you can install 2000 PRO. But you should have more RAM.

It'll work fine.

My wifes PC is an 8 year old P3 500, only upped the RAM to 384 due to her photo editing requirements.

Alright great!

When I get the disk, ill reformatt the drive.

Should I stick to FAT32 or go with NTFS? I dont wanna delete the partion because this is a gateway.

If deleting the partition, will it delete the BIOS?

Nope, BIOS is located on a chip within the computer.

BIOS is NOT located on your HD.

Well heres a update

I didnt get a win2k cd yet

but,

I did reformatt the drive and it has windows ME but i kept getting freezes and i opened up the PC and found out there was 2 different kind brands of RAM. ( kingston and Samsung) I had a kingston laying around so i popped it in and now i have 256.

I should have the cd by Tuesday noon

Ok I got a 2000 Server CD and is installed on my computers.

Server seems very different from my average OS because it runs on networks, etc.

I dont wanna run it on a network, I just wanna use it as a normal OS like 98,XP, etc
