How do I locate and safely remove unwanted junk files/folders that waste space on my machine??

I have 4Gb hard disk; so I’m always ‘housekeeping’ to save space. How do I determine which file extensions should be deleted, and which ones to avoid touching?!! Is there anything out there that can do this for me in one fell swoop?

If anyone can help, I’d be most grateful

Find a program by ashampoo called WinOptimize it is really good and highly customizable.
It's not free by default but who cares

P.S to forum admin it is stupid to type name everytime you post eventhough you authenticate
