How do I get rid of IE5.5 ? It is not available in the "installed programs" list.
It disappeared from the list after I installed SP2 for w2k. My main problem is that w2k keeps locking up or reboots itself. I have come to the conclusion the reason is IE. I normally use netscape, but other programs in the system uses IE, and if I start IE myself, I'm sure to have a dead system within minutes. So I want to uninstall or maybe reinstall IE. It won't let me reinstall; it says the same version already exists.I first suspected faulty RAM, but this has been verified not to be the reason for the lockups. The same machine works "fine" under 98SE.
PII 300, 224MB, ATI rage, SB 128, Adaptec scsi. W2K SP2, IE5.5 SP2, NS 6.2 and 4.79.

I used to have this problem on my pc when using 5.5 but had no choice but be brave and risk updating to ie6 from the Microsoft update page... since then it has been fine no problems.
(windowsupdate.microsoft.com)
I know this does not le tyou know how to uninstall it ... however there is some software called ieradicator which will remove ie for you... if you do a search on web (obviously using netscape not ie) you will find it.

thats wired i had excactly the same problem but the other way around my pc used to crash all the time and reboot itself after i upgraded to IE6 now i reinstalled 5.5 and everything is fine again ...:O0
anyway just get netscape and get it done with ...IE sux s big expecially now IE 6 ...wtf is that Teletubbies internet explorer ..same as teletubbies Windows also known as XP

Thanks for the tips. I have now reinstalled most of the software in my machine, and managed to get it not bootable now.
