First of all eMachines are worthless.
Now that I have said that, I just reloaded Windows 2000 Pro on my machine. All is well except I need a driver for the Universal Serial Bus Controller.
Is the USB shown in Device manager, if it is undertake driver upgrade whilst connected to the WWW, as above post states M$ have a large database of drivers..

It looks as if you have in Intel system. Go to Intel and download the most recent chipset/INF drivers for your board. This should do it.
