Did you even try a format of 2000? Are you logged in as administrator to do this? For more info. refer to my site.

Hope that helps.

covers many of the usual options.

Similarly:
If the drive is a single partition only (fat32)), then just reformat it (via a '98 boot-disk). If single ntfs partition, then use Fdisk (from a '98 boot-disk) and delete the partition; then reconfigure drive for next OS?

ntfs shows up under Fdisk as non-DOS partition.

If you have two partitions (primary/extended) and there is ntfs in extended then Fdisk will not remove it. W2K Disk Admin will do that for you; afterwhich use any of the above routines to remove Primary.

Or a kwik 'n dirty approach; use delpart.exe util.

This will remove just about any partition - permanently; so you could use it regardless of how drive is currently configured... Freebie download at:

To use: boot up with '98/DOS boot-disk; at a:>\ prompt change to util floppy and run util - follow on-screen prompts. Afterwards reconfigure drive for next OS. You can add the util to the boot-disk and avoid a disk change.
