It's not on the list because it's not installed on your local machine. Yahoo mail is accessible from your web browser. So, if you don't wish to access it, then just don't open the Yahoo Mail website. :)

Do you mean Yahoo Mail the one that comes when you download Yahoo Messenger? I Uninstalled it same way you tried (Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Software) However, the Desktop Icon for it stayed. That's just a regular link Shortcut. If it's that then you can just delete it. If it's on the Links Toolbar in Internet Explorer, right click on link and delete it.
Sometimes programs that dont delete correctly. You might have to reinstall it to so that all the components to it are reseted, then do the uninstall again from Control Panel.

I have the same problem with yahoo! Internet mail, and I tried to use add/remove to delete it, but just as u guys said, it didn・t work. But my friend suggested I do it manually, so I went to program file and delete everything from :yahoo; folder except for this one file called :ymmapi.dl.; My friend thought it might be loaded into memory, so I can probably try to delete it by restarting my computer. He also said if it still won't let me delete, then I need a program that removes it before anything else loads. Unfortunately, I don・t know the program name coz I haven・t tried it and he also has to look into it some more for me. But I will definitely post it once I get a reply from him. Good news is this :ymmapi.dl; file only takes up 0.16 MB of space, so it doesn・t really matter.

Hope this will help!

I posted before that I would write if yahoo ever got back to me about this.... well they did. after yahoo made out to be stupid by sending me detailed instructions of how to get to add/remove programs, I sent them yet another bug report about this porblem.... well htey emailed me back that "due to inactivity your acount has been closed"
I use my account every week... very vindictive.... for what? why wouldnt they just look into it considering i am not the only one with tis problem. I have never had a problem like this ever before... I would almost like to think that yahoo designed this program to behave this way.
One more thing, can someone explain why and internet based mail would need a program anyway? i have removed all yahoo from my machine and have done so on all of the people i knows machines.... i will never deal with them again.

Had the same problem and solved by making use of regedit. Just search for all keys with something like 'yaho' and delete them. After that restart the system. You will find that Yahoo Internet Mail is no more in your installed programs. After this you can even do a file search and remove all file and folder containing 'yaho' It worked for me!

You just can't get rid of its name being on that list, but you can delete everything else but its listng. Also go to START>RUN type in regedit then OK. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE and delete the Yahoo folder. Also delete the Yahoo folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE. You will have to restart your computer repeatedly tapping the F8 key as it boots. If it asks whether you want to boot from your floppy, disk drive or hard drive just hit ENTER and start typing the F8 key again. Then on the menu it gives you select SAFE MODE. It will ask you if you want to continue. Say YES and delete the Yahoo folder in your program files folder. I am not an expert, but I believe this is about all that can be done as of now, and I'm almost positive it removes all of Yahoo. I also did a search for folders and files with Yahoo in the name and found a shotload. You should be warned that Yahoo is affiliated with companies that make spyware; namely GATOR...

All's well that ends hell.

Hi,

I've finally figured out how to remove Yahoo! Internet Mail. The error is that regsvr32 cannot use the ymmapi.dll file correctly. It cannot install (the /i switch) or uninstall (the /u) switch. All the Yahoo uninstall program does is have regsvr32 execute the uninstall command silently, which is why the screen only flashes. You will see the error message if you do not use the silent flag.

The solution is to log into Yahoo mail (or get an account) and click on the compose button. Then, click on the "Enable Autocomplete" link or image. Follow the steps to install Autocomplete (but be careful to not choose to set it as your default mail client, etc.). Once it has installed you may now return to the Add/Remove programs dialog and uninstall Yahoo! Internet Mail as before, and then uninstall Autocomplete. It worked for me, I hope it is of some help to others. This is a relatively simple and low-risk solution as it does not require manually editing the registry.

Hi,

I just got a summer job administering 4 Community Access Points. Some "yahoo" in town has been going around installing junk. Despite the Acceptable Use Policy clearly stating that they are not allowed to... but thats another story.

I used to use messenger years ago but I found when I first switched to XP that yahoo crashed it a lot. Easy to solve. But now this bloody Yahoo mail plus and yahoo companion and every other of about a dozen yahoo products, that this man serially installs on my computers, will not uninstall. thank god i have Deep Freeze installed so new problems are just a restart away from being fixed.

Thanks for the info
