I recently tried to install Windows XP in addition to 2K. A file in the setup disk was corrupt, so it only partially set the OS (XP) up. If I try to boot with XP (from Dos) it only goes back into the setup portion. I want to uninstall it, but there's no option for that in 2K's add/remove programs. I also tried using osuninst.exe from windows\system32 but it couldn't file a file needed for this. How do I get the partially installed XP off my system WITHOUT reformatting?

I haven't played with XP -yet so I'm theorising a little based on some recent research/hunt and find sessions...
Possibly... run W2K set-up (CD boot/4 floppies - not from within an installed OS)and allow it 'upgrade current W2K version'. This will overwrite the XP boot-loader etc. From what I've read so far, when you install XP after W2K, XP replaces the W2K boot-loader with the XP version; and if you install W2K after XP it overwrites the XP boot-loader.
So 'if' my understanding is correct once you have run W2K set-up etc. you should be able to boot to W2K clean and locate/delete the XP folder via W2K Explorer?
Just booting to W2K via the XP boot-loader etc. would probably allow you to delete XP folder etc (via Explorer)? But if you don't do a W2K set-up approach (first and replace the XP boot-loader) then you will be stuck with the XP boot-loader and this may be an issue in the future you don't want?
As I say this is pure theory but I can't see why it won't work if I'm correct in my understanding? Afterwards defrag the HD and renew the W2K ERD.

I know this is not the same, but I recently Installed win 2k as a multi-boot with win98 on seperate partitions. The way I removed that multiboot was to create a boot disk for win98 from the control panel (add/remove programs -> create windows 98 boot disk). then I exited to dos mode and used the sys command from the a:\> directory to recopy the system files of the c drive (the command was "A:\>SYS C:") I then formatted the partition containing win2k. If there was only one partition, just deleting the win2k files would work. Although this may not be he same for win2k/winXP, there may be some similarity - good luck!
