I am using windows 2000 and just installed McAfee Internet Security. Now everytime I start up, when McAfee's privacy window pops up, If I dont close it immediately, I'll get a blue screen saying "unexpected kernel mode trap" and begins to dump physical memory on disk??!? (What's that for?) So if I close it in time, windows will load up, but when the security center starts, If i can't close it fast enough, I'll get that "unexpected kernel mode trap" again, then it restarts the computer :( How can I fix this?
(I've heard of Norton's privacy service giving this error for win2k users, and they released a patch to fix it...)

I'm having the same problem as Tim; however, I do not have Norton or McAfee installed.
Is there a fix?
Thanks.

First I was getting KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED but I seem to have resolved that issue. However, now I'm getting the same screen as you guys, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. Looks like I've swapped one blue screen of death with another. I also have McAfee Security Center installed with Virus Scanner, Firewall, and Spam Protection. My computer crashed intermittently with no warning, so I don't think it's the McAfee that is doing it. However, there have been several issues with those types of software and Win2k. I have updated my Win2k to service pack 4 and updated all the firm-ware and drivers for each of my system components.
Solution 1
Try disabling McAfee in safe-mode, reboot, download and update windows, reboot again, then restart McAfee. Then you can determine if McAfee is the culprit.Solution 2
Drink until you can't remember why you were mad in the first place. heheGood luck guys. I'll keep digging around the net see if anyone has had any luck. Oh, and for future reference, let's all make it a point to tell eachother which service pack we're running on and which updates we have installed. More often than not, the latest service packs may be able to resolve your issues. Then again, we're talking about Microsoft......lol
