Hello Guys.....

I'm having a problem when trying to browse to a share. When I go to start-> run and type in \\MIS and hit enter to browse to the server I get and error that says " No network provider accepted the given network path" . I can go into the command prompt and ping that name and get an IP back, and then with that IP browse to the server with it.

So I can resolve the UNC name to IP, but I can't browse to the server with using the UNC ??? Please help !!

Do you have NetBios over TCP/IP enabled? The UNC is a netbios utility, ping is a sockets utility - doesn't use netbios.

Check the properties if Tcp/IP and see if netbios is enabled.

That's the first place to look.
