I have a small network in my office. 2 Win ME machines and one Win 2K-Pro. I was using the W2k and tried to print something out (network printer attached to one of the other machines). My computer gave an error message "Printer Not Found." It mentioned adding a printer as a solution. I had just printed from this machine a couple of days ago so I figured it was a glitch and restarted it. Uh oh. The W2k won't restart. Here's the error message:

STOP: c000026c (unable to load device driver) \systemroot\system32\drivers\smwdm.sys
Device driver could not be loaded.
Error status was 0xc000007b.

I did some research on this site and at google. One person suggested to simply remove the problematic driver and reboot. Since it was just for a sound card/device I thought it was a logical idea. I deleted the driver and restarted. Uh oh, #2. Wouldn't restart. New error message:

STOP: c000026c (unable to load device driver) \systemroot\system32\drivers\flpydisk.sys
Device driver could not be loaded.
Error status was 0xc0000221.

I am not going to even think about messing with this driver without some very good advice.

I can start in Safe Mode. I tried to Safe Mode with Networking and got another error message:

STOP: c000026c (unable to load device driver) \systemroot\system32\drivers\tcpip.sys

Any ideas? I have not added any hardware in quite some time. The only software would have been MS Updates. The only x-factor I know of is Hurricane Isabelle. It knocked out the power in our office for 12-15 hours. However, the PC is hooked up to a UPS device(battery backup). And the computer worked fine for 8 or 9 days before this incident. I have looked all over the Net and can't find an answer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Turned out to be hardware. Faulty memory chip(s).
