Reply: (edit)IEGator.dll is spyware and it could be a hidden file, consequently you cannot find it. I would suggest that you update your Adaware 6.0 to Adaware SE, http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5, run it and see if it picks up what Spybot has found but cannot remove. Alternatively, google IEGator.dll and you will find many pieces of software that claim effective removal of that dll. Finally, a free piece of software regseeker should be able to detect all instances of IEGator.dll if you use it's search facility. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)Tonto Thanks, I have ran Adware SE, Spyhunter, regseeker, and Spybot all in that order and I still get: Error during check! (Ungultiger Datentyp fur ''). It looks like it has removed all the "GATOR" references. I'm still unable to download updates from Microsoft.

Reply: (edit)HaloMat Try running a repair using you W2K CD. First go to Start, Run, type sfc /scannow ,click OK. The program will check for corrupted files and reinstall them. Unfortunately it does not provide a report. If that does not work, then your next step would be a repair using the Win2K CD but you will need to change the booting order of your computer beforehand. (I'm presuming that you are not familiar with the process otherwise ignore the instructions) When you start up your computer, press the Delete key (sometimes it is F2 or F5) for the BIOS screen to appear. There you will be able to change the booting sequence to CDROM being first. Save and reboot. During the boot you will need to press a key so that it boots of the W2K CD. When choices appear as Install, Repair etc. Choose Repair, then Fast. When finished allow it to reboot to Windows and see if your problem has been resolved. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)Tonto No go...It did not work. I'm sure my pc has to have some type of virus on it. I have virus protection(norton corp 8.0) thats up to date. I have ran spybot, spyhunter, Adware SE and its a no go. I think I may have to start from scratch. What a bummer!!! Matt
