I recently installed a new Tyan Tiger 133 S1834 MOBO and have had no luck getting Win2K to recognize the USB ports. I've installed the latest BIOS update from Tyan to no avail. My system contains the following:
512Mb SDRAM
ATI Rage Fury 32Mb AGP Video
20Gb Maxtor UDMA 66 7200rpm HDD
Creative Live Value Sound
USR 56.6kbps Winmodem
ISA-based PCMCIA controller (for my digital cam)
CreativeLabs 5X DVD
HP 8100i CDRW
Dual PIII 500 CPUs
Win2K SP1 and all the patchesAside from a bad board, what else might cause this problem?

I have had the problem with the newest W2k ATI Rage drivers conflicting with USB mouse/keyboard on an AMD/VIA setup. I have the Tiger 133 running 2000 server with 2 550's and the USB works fine, however, the AGP card is generic. Try a cheap PCI or AGP card and see if the problem goes away. After that ... ?

I might agree with you except that I'm running the ATI drivers that come with Win2K--no special purpose drivers. I've already tried changing the physical configuration of the PC (i.e moving cards between slots) but, nothing seems to work. My next step will be to format my secondary 10Gb drive with Win98 or ME to see if either will recognize the USB ports on this board. If not, I think the board is getting shipped back to Tyan with a toe tag.

I have the S1834D-I, dual P3/733, 256 Mb Ram, and Windows 2000 Pro - and have no problems with the USB ports being recognized. However, they are hardly useful. I have a MS Intellimouse Optical USB mouse and the performance is terrible. This also is noticable with any USB HID device used. I have an old Diamond V550 AGP video card, latest tyan bios (1.05), and that IRQ 12 workaround - and it just doesn't work. If anyone finds this message and has a fix, please let me know. I currently have an open ticket with Tyan on getting this worked out, and if I find out - I will post that here.

Kevin: I have revision F of the Tiger 133 and I contacted Tyan Support because of the exact same USB problem (Intellimouse Optical USB). They sent me a beta BIOS (18340809.bin) but it does not seem to have any effect on USB performance (as compared with 1.05 BIOS). Any updates on the matter?

I have a Tiger 133 with the sluggish USB problem in Win 2K Pro..I am using a Voodoo5 5500 and I have used the IRQ 12 workaround. It worked for about a day then stopped. Is there some kind of correlation between the USB and AGP resources?

Have the same problem. Tried to update drivers, etc but nothing. My USB sacanner works like a turtle (when it want to work). The mouse is a mess, and every item insalled in my usb hub doesn't work properly. the only exception is the printer. IT just work fine, is ans usb epson stylus 670.
I thinks that it doesn't have anything to do with ATI drivers. The problem was visible since I installed w2k, before installing any driver.

I need to know wich is the most powerfull cpu´s you can run on dual in this board PIII 800Mhz???? but do they have to be coppermine???

I am having the same problem with a USB Logitech optical mouse on my Tiger 133. But on top of that I also have an Asus v7700 deluxe GeForce2 that keeps locking up after the drivers have been installed, as soon as i try to do something like starting Internet Explorer. I've tried updating the via chipset 4in1 drivers, The Microsoft Via agp fix, All the different video drivers out there for the GeForce2, and even setting my bios to disable 4xagp and still keep having the same problem. Does anybody know how I can fix this??
