I have an older Digital laptop that I'm trying to install 2000 on. I created the 4 boot up disks to install 2000. After it gets done with the 4th disk it asks you to press enter for setup. At this point the CD must be in the CD drive. This laptop has an external cd drive connected to a pcmcia card. When I click enter to install it display a message saying the cd rom drive is not found. Does anyone know a way around this? Please help.

Hmm if you boot from a Windows 98 disk can you access the external drive? if so, boot up that way and then try running the setup from the prompt and see if it will run....

Before installing Win2k you should run the Hardware Compatibility Test, or check the list on www.microsoft.com
