My AVG virus scan tells me that this file called mspapc.dll in the system32 folder is a backdoor trojan but I can't remove it. It won't go in the virus vault either. I started up in safe mode to try to delete it, but the file was not there. I searched for it, but nothing came up. So how can I get rid of it? It's marked as a read-only file. Thanks.

Have you tried running AdAware (free download from LavaSoft) or X-Cleaner as they can be useful in removing Spyware and related trojans. Let me know if you have no joy (e-mail me if more urgent)

Hi Rachel,

If your 2k drive is FAT (not NTFS) you can boot on, for instance, a w98 startup floppy.

c:
cd \winnt\system32
attrib -r mspapc.dll
del mspapc.dll

***************
If it's NTFS, stronger medecine is needed.
Let us know how it goes.

If you have access to Kazaa or Grokster, try and download Anti-Trojan Horse 3 and run that, fingers crossed this should fix your problem
