Help,

I am having major problems with my Torisan DVD-ROM DRD-U624 drive on a Dell Inspiron 7500. I have the Win2K operating system, and I am using Win DVD as my DVD software decoder. Everything was working fine until I tried to install a HP –CD Writer 8200a external series to my (Laptop) via USB. I also downloaded the drivers from HP site for Win 2K before installation of the CD Writer. Installation went fine DVD and the writer was working fine until I restarted the computer. The DVD ROM drive was assigned the D:\, and CD-Writer was assigned the E:\Drive. DVD Location after installation was location 0, and Cd-writer location was 1 After the reboot, Win 2K checked the hardware, and DVD is present on boot, once in the Win 2K desktop, either drive is found and both have errors. DVD-ROM drive says it can not load drivers required error code 31. So I uninstalled both the DVD drive, and the CD-Writer. I restarted the computer and then added the DVD back to the computer, it still does not assign a drive letter, and it still shows the error Code 31 for the DVD. I have only gotten back the CD-ROM Drive (DVD) by reinstalling Win2K. There has got to be another way to get my DVD ROM drive back without reinstalling everything.
I desperately need some solutions?

Please help!

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is going into the Drive manager and see if you can enable them there.

Help,

I recently tried to play a DVD Movie in my WIN2000 DVD player and it did not work. The DVD started loading and then stopped after a few seconds. I tried to hit the play button and nothing happened. I also checked my settings and that did not help. When I checked the DVD/CDrom drive my computer said that it didnot contain a disk eventhough the disk was in the drive. Do you hav any suggestions?

I also have a new ProStar laptop with a Torisan DRD-U824 that worked until I installed W-ME, now it doesn't and Torisan has posted no drivers on their site.

I bought a Compaq Presario 1600xl laptop
on internet from PCMALL. Everything was fine, but after three weeks of using the computer the Torisan DRD-U624 DVD-ROM drive stopped working properly. Namely, reading of a DVD disc is either impossible or the movie is extremely distorted during the playback. Any file from CDs cannot be copied without a loss of information stored. The only thing that works without any problems is audio CD playback, but it is of course not sufficient!First I thought that something went wrong in the operating system (W98SE), thus I reinstalled it. However it did not change anything with the DVD drive. Then I cleaned the lens with the aid of a Maxell CD/DVD rom lens cleaning CD and nothing had been changed again.

I have the U824 drive and my Sony PCGF-560 under W2K does not read the disk. The problem manifested itself after running a DVD disk. I am alse desperate for a solution to the problem, since the only one I have found is to reinstall W2K from scratch.
