1. I have a win2000 professional box 2. I have no network capabilities as of 3 days ago. 3. When I try to run 'ipconfig' it responds with the error message, "There is no TCP/IP running on this system. 4. I went into network connection properties and sure enough there was no tcp/ip listed in there. So I went to install the protocol and when I attempted to do so I received the following error message "Could not add the requested component. The error is: The name is already in use as a service name or a service display name" 5. I uninstalled my network card and reinstalled it and still get the same errors. 6. I really do not want to have to format the drive so if anyone has a suggestion on how to resolve this problem please let me know.
Well I already tried that "search string" in google and after spending an hour going through each site i found not a single resolution to the problem. All of those sites give basically general information on the error but what I need to know is the service architecture for the "tcp/ip protocol." Oh well, I think formatting is going to be the most efficient way to handle this. Thanks.
