Does anyone know how to burn a copy of the game "The Sims" ?
I have tried directly burning to a CD, but it fails. I also tried copying all the installation files to the HD and then copy them, but still no luck.
I used fireburner,CDRwin, CloneCD,nero to copy the cd but no success.
I also created a cd-image and then tried to burn the CD, but still no success.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

It is possible that the program developers don't want their games being copied for piracy.

if you use nero 5.5 it's a heck a lot easier.

1.get rid of the wizard
2.make a data ISO copy
3.drag all the files from the cd to the destination side.
4.it will create a temporary image file and then it sshould burn

hi. I can help you with your problem. It took me ages to figure out how to do it but i finally got it. It is possible to copy any game. You just have to know whta program to use.
Ok here is the instructions.

Use CloneCD 3.0.9.1

Name:

Keycode:

4BA8307ED0BD07AAECB4BFD83E40DC
D1001BBF

You can get CloneCD at www.gamecopyworld.com

Here are the instructions to make a working backup of most Protected CDs using CloneCD in combination with a CD-Reader/CD-Writer which can both can handle DAO-RAW:

Create the following directory:
: C:\TEMP\CD
Create a CD-Image using CloneCD with these settings:
Set Read Speed to 1x (176 kByte/s)
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks
Select Fast Error Skip
Set Read Retry to at least 5
Set Error correction to None
UnSelect Don't report bad sectors
UnSelect Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner
When ready burn the CD-Image a CD-R using CloneCD with these settings:
Set Write Speed to any desired speed
Select RAW DAO
Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
Select Always close last Session
Play the game!

Backup Hints
Here are some general hints when making a 1:1 CD-Copy:

Use your CD-Writer to also read the CD-Image - In most cases the CD-Writer can handle more protections!
To avoid coasters always make a CD-Image on harddrive before writing it to a CD-R.
Read the CD-Image at 1x or at a maximum of 8x speed. Reading the CD-Image at 1x speed takes a long time to complete but it is the safest speed to correctly read the image from any CD-Reader. Most modern CD-Readers can handle faster speeds. Just experiment!
CD-Writer software like Adaptec Easy CD Creator will NEVER be able to copy protected CDs and in most cases only interferes with other CD-Writers software! Software like CloneCD, Nero & CDRWIN are far better products!

HOW would you do it if the writer doesn't support DAO-RAW???
Is there any other ways?

It's unfortunate too, that such methods are used to keep games from being backed up. For us college students, it's nice be able to back up all your disks and drag them to school with you... And not have to worry about people stealing your originals, cracking them or eating them...

Before I give the hint i will dispell what all others may think because i have tried many methods including copying cd to cd and making an iso then burning it unfortunatly the only response i get back is that it will install fine but wont play from the burned cd but i can still play with my original disk. One hint may be to name the burnt cd the actuall name of the original which i just thought of last night and will be testing later. Another excellent hint that i have tested and works is u can install the first one with a burnt disk(saves the cost) then buy an expansion pack which is cheaper and install it. I will post later after i try the naming method.

the previosly mentioned did not work but i have finally found the way (ive done it with sims and houseparty), use blindread/write its very simple if u read the help files but very time consuming so when finished reading it onto hard drive i strongly suggest you make a data disk with it in case you ever need to make another copy if anyone needs help with this process i can be reached at grec00@hotmail.com please use simshelp as a subject as to be sure that i dont junk it. gla
