Hi,
Our IT manager left last year so I was dropped into the hot seat. I know very little about servers and networking, somehow manged to survive almost 12 months. However I have one particular problem that someone might know the solution to. Our sister company uses Terminal Services but they constantly complain that when they start it up they get a very slow line by line picture building up on their screen before they are able to use it. I know it can be got rid of, I don't know how, but also it only lasts a few weeks before the picture is back. They find it infuriating but I don't know the first thing about Terminal Services. The server is running Windows 200 server, they are running Windows NT on a slow workstation - 200MMX/128Mb.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Allan

Possible solutions
Start>>Programs>>Administrator Tools>>TS Configuration
Server Settings Folder (left panel)
Active Desktop > Set to DisableUse newer TS Client software from MS.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.aspPreset the following and Save As icon w/ settings to desktop.
Under Display set color down to 256
Under Experience Uncheck everything except Bitmap Caching.

Thanks for your reply. I will try these settings. I did wonder about active desktop which is currently ticked on.
Thanks
Allan

I've discovered more........... The picture which is loaded on the remote workstations is Paradise.jpg, a screensaver for Windows 2000 server. Apparently one remote workstation uses connection manager and doesn't get this problem but another workstation uses client access (?) and does. So all I have to do now is find out how to change it to connection manager.
Thanks
Allan
