I have a few questions for TS experts.
I have terminal service loaded on a 2000 server in application mode.
1)Can a client using a notebook at home copy a file from the server to their local machine using the terminal service and if so how?
2)I noticed 3 unassigned ts printer ports on the server. Each time a person connects one of these ports is temporarily reassigned as a local printer redirect. If more than 3 people are connected with a local printer will it create more of these TS ports?
3)The server does not have active directory installed. Can I force a mandatory profile onto ts users?
Mike

A client connected to a TS can not just drag and drop or cut and paste files to their home machine. You would need a direct share, such as through a VPN to be able to do that.
When the connection is made to the TS, it will try to create any local printers on the TS server so you can use your printers in the TS session. The ports should not be problem.
You can force a manual profile by renaming the file ntuser.dat to ntuser.man. The file should exist in their current profile. It may be hidden however.
Good luck.
Glen

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I just thought they may have a "transfer to client" button or somthing to trade files back and forth. I'm surprised they don't. I mean jeez, you already have the connection how hard would it be to include a little zmodem or some sort of download button?
