Hello,My window is not starting. I am getting the error message: <windowa 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt when I turn on my computer. I tried reinstalling windows but the pc could not recognize the Windows 2000 CD. My uppermost priority now is to recover my data files. Any help from someone? Thanks.

I would normally try to recover W2000, but now it is too late. The best thing is to remove the HDD from your PC and install it as a second disk on another PC that runs either W2000/XP. No need to play with the jumpers, unplug the CD/DVD and plug your HDD. This way you should be able to copy your profile (your files and your settings) on to the other HDD or to create some CDs. You put then your HDD back into your PC and do a clean installation. I would delete the C: partition and create a smaller C: & D: partitions, so that you can use the last one to backup your work. If you ever need to reinstall, you can wipe the C: partition, without having to worry about your work. Good luck!!

Hi, I got the same sh... might be a Virus/Worm! my system has W32\nachi! You can boot from a second HDD and/or w2k Installation and extract SP4 with /x and copy ntoskrnl.exe to your destination.
